Hi y’all, my name is Christa Kelly, and I am the oldest sister and health care proxy of Bethany Staton. Bethany has dealt with several health issues for the past couple of years, including thyroid cancer and thyroid removal. In April, she started having episodes of confusion and having several neurological symptoms that were effecting her work and day to day living. After finding a spectacular neurologist, having an EEG, EMG, MRI, and bloodwork done, we were given the news that she has a 2 cm meningioma growing from the membrane surrounding her brain that is pressing against the right side of her frontal lobe and the muscles behind her eye. As if that wasn’t enough, she is also having focal seizures that seem to be escalating. The neurologist informed us the tumor has to be removed and tested to see whether it is cancerous or not, and she will have to be on seizure medication indefinitely.
Before all of this happened, Bethany worked for Alvin ISD as a bus monitor on the special needs bus, and absolutely rocked at it! After the school year ended, her doctors appointments have been very consistent, so she is without a job and income. Because she is having seizures, her neurologist advised her she would not be able to drive for 3 months, possibly longer if her seizures persist after medication. Due to all of the symptoms she is having from the tumor and seizures and tumor removal surgery coming up, she will not be able to work for a while.
Our family is doing all we can to help maintain her financially, emotionally, mentally, and physically, but financially, we are very limited. With monthly bills, Dr. visit and testing fees, an upcoming brain surgery, and a long recovery ahead, we are asking for lots of prayers, resources you may know of that could possibly help, and any donations you are lead to give. She has applied for SSI, but she is still in the processing stage, and we do not know yet if she even qualifies. I know everyone is struggling right now, but if you are able to help at all, it would be immensely appreciated.
We are praying and trusting in God that there will be complete healing and restoration of her body, mind, and mental health! Please keep her and our family in your prayers, and share this, if possible. We love and appreciate each of you!!!
