Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers (or even UN-kind Strangers),
I’m reaching out with hope in my heart and a very personal request. I’ve been diagnosed with a serious heart condition that requires mitral valve surgery — a procedure that’s not only urgent, but also life-saving. Since it was discovered in 2019, it has progressed from mild to, in 2024, severe. This updated diagnosis began the process of setting up surgery to fix or replace my mitral valve. My surgery is planned for Monday, June 23rd, 2025 and I’m told the recovery will be 4-6 weeks (I’m hoping that because of my otherwise very good health, it will be on the shorter side).
This isn’t an easy message to write. Asking for help is never easy. But right now, l’m facing a medical and financial challenge that I can’t handle alone. The costs of my insurance deductible and time away from work during the 4-6 week recovery period are overwhelming. The full cost of my deductible (which is the vast majority of all this), approximate loss of income for 4-6 weeks and normal life expenses will come in around $15,000; I’m starting with a lower goal.
If you’re able, l’m humbly asking for your support – whether it’s a donation, a share of this page, or simply a kind thought. Every bit of help counts!
Mitral valve surgery can restore my heart’s function and give me a real chance at a full, healthy life. With your help, I can get back to doing the things I love, serving the planet with my drumming — and more importantly, spending more time with the people I love.
No amount is too small. Even $5 can make a difference when we come together.
If you’ve ever known someone who needed a second chance at life, I hope my story speaks to your heart.
Thank you for reading, for caring, for sharing and for giving — in any way you can.
With humble gratitude,
Taylor
PS: keep on drummin’ and dancin’!
