We are Todd and Brenda Hyde. We are serving a mission for our Church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints). We are serving in Tanzania. Our dear friend, Elder Chamwada, has just lost his brother due to an explosion caused by a leaky gas bottle hooked up to his cook stove on May 7, 2025. Elder Chamwada is the oldest son of 4 children. He and his family are from Lugari, Kenya. In 2016, his father was forced to retire from his job as a prison warden because of medical issues. Life has been a real struggle in Kenya. In spite of this, he has managed to come to Tanzania to serve his Heavenly Father and the people here for 2 years.
Elder Chamwada’s brother suffered from his injuries until June 12th when he succumbed to them.. Because Elder Chamwada is the oldest and now only son, his responsibility is to find the money to pay the medical bills and the bill to the morgue. The morgue must be paid before his brother will be released for burial. He is hoping he can take care of this responsibility in 2 weeks and return to his mission. We love this young man. He has a bright future and has a chance to do wonderful things in his life. His smile brightens up any room he is in. Any donation, no matter how small, will be so greatly appreciated.
