Karen Haakenson-Kahan, know to many as Wyndreth Berginsdottir, has been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia.
Lewy body dementia (LBD) is a progressive form of dementia that affects thinking, reasoning, and information processing. It’s an umbrella term for two similar dementia subtypes: dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson’s disease dementia. Both are characterized by brain damage caused by Lewy bodies, which are abnormal protein deposits that build up in brain cells. Her husband, Harry/Vlad, needs financial assistance to care for her.
