My name is Tammy and not many of my friends and family know, but I was diagnosed with uterine cancer several years ago. At the time, there were other medical issues I was dealing with, and this was put on the back burner, but I was given meds to stop the symptoms I was having until I could deal with everything else. Unfortunately, about a year ago, the meds no longer worked, and the symptoms have returned at full force. I was blessed to find an oncologist who is encouraging a hysterectomy so they can remove the cancer, and I no longer have to suffer with these symptoms that have honestly just made my daily life unbearable. Not being able to spend time with family and friends.
The surgery itself is going to cost $46k, but luckily with financial assistance, my out-of-pocket is $4500. Unfortunately, my health insurance at work covers nothing, and being a single person with bills that I can barely cover, I can’t afford to have this surgery that I desperately need. Plus, the recovery for the surgery will be 2 to 4 weeks, so I will also have a reduced income while I recover. The surgery is scheduled for June 25th, and the money must be paid by Friday, June 20th, or it will be canceled. They didn’t give much time to prepare because of the urgent need for surgery. I have been hospitalized several times because of the cancer and have had many blood transfusions.
I’m not the type of person to ask for anything, but I’m asking now. Anything helps. If you can’t help, I do understand, and if you could share this, I’d appreciate it. I’m grateful for anything and everything.
