Sunny Magee is a passionate advocate for vulnerable populations, dedicating a portion of her life to helping others and making a difference in her community. Recently, she underwent brain surgery to remove an acoustic neuroma tumor. While the procedure was successful in removing a large portion of the tumor, Sunny has experienced side effects from the surgery, specifically damage to her facial nerve, impacting movement on the left side—she now faces a long road to recovery with variability in what the outcome will ultimately be, though each week is better than the last; the processes of healing—physically, mentally, and spiritually—are complex and significant.
During this time, Sunny is unable to work, and our family is focused on providing her with the best possible support. The funds raised will help cover a range of medical/therapeutic services, including physical therapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, counseling, facial rehabilitation, and more. We have advocated for and secured an external referral from Kaiser to OHSU, where Sunny can receive specialized care from therapists experienced in nerve regeneration and facial rehabilitation. This specialized support is essential for her recovery and to help achieve the best possible outcome.
