My youngest sister, Sofia, is battling not 1, but 2 rare, incurable lifelong illnesses.
Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC) is a genetic disorder whereby she doesn’t have the gene to prevent tumors from growing in her internal organs such as brain, heart, kidneys, and lungs. She has a tumor in her brain causing seizures, and a few tumors in her kidneys. But out of all…
2 weeks ago, she complained difficulty in breathing and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors found out that her lungs spontaneously collapsed (her right lung deflated by 72%, left lung by 49%). This led to her 2nd rare illness diagnosis…
Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) where the tumors in her lungs are now damaging and ultimately led to its collapse.
She is currently admitted in the Intensive Care Unit for 2 weeks and counting, battling pneumonia (with her compromised lungs), and when stronger, Sofia will need to undergo lung surgery next week.
We are a simple family from the Philippines, and given the rarity of her illnesses and resources available there, our medical bill is piling faster than what we have ever prepared for.
From the kindness of your hearts, we need help to support her current medical bill and for continuous monitoring of her tumor growths. The latter as our best measure to at least manage the illness.
Alternatively, if you have medical connections who’d be interested to take her case in the interest of studying it better, please reach out to us. We want to be a part of the solution so that no family can feel helpless with these rare illnesses.
From an eldest sister’s heart, please help our family’s youngest.
Thank you so much for your generosity.
