At this point, for those who know me, know that I tore my meniscus back in March. I went ahead and had my tear repaired, and we found out the tear was worse than the MRI showed. My recovery started off very rocky with a hospital stay because we couldn’t manage the pain.
I knew recovery would be long, which is why I filed a claim with my short-term disability. My benefits covered my living expenses, and at this point, I’ve exhausted my benefits being back at work.
While I continue to heal, I can only work limited hours. I can only work my serving job for no more than 3 days a week with limited hours. Summertime business in many bars is scarce because people get out and enjoy life while school is out and take advantage of lake life while the ND weather is nice. Because I am now in the process of paying back my health insurance debt, I will not be getting paychecks, and summertime tips with limited hours are not livable for me until I can get back on my feet and get to my full-time status. Especially trying to be a single parent.
I am going to physical therapy twice a week to keep things moving and help gain my strength back. I am cautious of what I do outside of work so as not to overdo it and set myself back.
I am healing well, but I have a long, long way to go now that I have a debt to pay along with everyday living expenses.
