Hi, my name is Stacey Hernandez. I have been fighting Lupus, RA, and Fibromyalgia for over 10 years now. It’s been an uphill battle of constant treatments, different medications, etc. There is no cure for my terminal illness, but what we do is manage my symptoms to keep my life going as normal as possible.
I am now facing a new challenge with my diagnosis, and my oncologist is wanting to try a new treatment plan (Benlysta) which would hopefully put my Lupus into remission for a few months (we’re hoping). But now we’re finding out that my insurance is not wanting to fully cover the costs of my treatment. I will need 2 full treatments which last 3-5 days of me going into the office for up to 2 hours a day each dose, so 8-10 days of treatment.
I come to all of you humbled and asking for help. Each dose will cost me $1975 out of pocket, which I’m not able to afford. My insurance will cover the rest. I’m not one to ask for help, but I’m at the end of my rope and don’t know what else to do. If you’re able to help with absolutely anything, it would be greatly appreciated. I will keep this post updated with what’s going on and what I’ve been able to do as per treatment options, etc. Again, I thank you for your help and appreciate everything done to help me just continue to live a normal, pain-free or minimal pain-free life.
