Support the Watje Family – Medical & Recovery Fund

Meet the Watje family: Patrick (dad), Deborah (mom), and their two daughters Isabelle (12) and Addy (9) are a kind, creative, and loving family who now find themselves navigating unimaginable challenges. They need our help.

On May 18th, Patrick suffered a sudden cardiac arrest at home. Thanks to a series of miracles and quick action, he survived — a rare and extraordinary outcome. After time in the ICU, Patrick was discharged home at the end of May to continue healing, surrounded by his wife and daughters.

Shortly after returning home, the family received another blow: Patrick had been laid off from his job as a video game animator at Electronic Arts. This added financial stress to an already overwhelming situation.

Then, just weeks later, tragedy struck again. On June 12th, Deborah suffered a transient ischemic attack (TIA), also known as a mini-stroke, and was hospitalized. Thankfully, she is now home and recovering.

This incredible family has been through so much in such a short time.

How You Can Help

The Watjes need our community’s love and support now more than ever. The path ahead will be long, filled with doctor visits, therapies, healing, and uncertainty around income. We are raising funds to help with:

• medical expenses

• living costs

• everyday essentials while both parents recover

Whether you can donate funds, send a message of encouragement, or simply share this page, every bit helps and is deeply appreciated.

Let’s Rally for the Watjes

Patrick and Deborah have always been quick to offer help and kindness to others. Now it’s our turn to support them and show them they are not alone.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing up for the Watje family.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
