Recently, our brother Lucas Penney has been faced with a medical condition called Necrotizing Fasciitis, a serious and rapidly progressing bacterial infection that destroys soft tissue, including the fascia, subcutaneous tissue, and skin. It’s a severe condition that can lead to sepsis, organ failure, and can be fatal without immediate and aggressive treatment.
His condition required immediate treatment beyond St. Joe’s capabilities and he was life-flighted to UW Medical Center in Seattle earlier this week. Our parents, Dave & Marie Penney were in the middle of their own doctor’s appointments when they quickly left from Spokane to Seattle to be with our brother.
Because of the severity of his condition, several surgeries are required over the next few weeks. Our parents and us siblings will be staying with him in shifts until he is discharged to recover at home.
We are asking the family for financial support to help cover our parents’ travel expenses. We will also be assisting with their expenses as well as using our personal funds to be with our brother. Luke is a single dad with a 10-year-old son, and we want to make sure he isn’t alone at the hospital and his son is comforted and loved well in the process.
We thank you in advance for donations of any amount. We understand some of you may be unable to contribute financially, but we would also appreciate all prayers for Luke, his son Cy, and our parents.
PS. Thank you to friends and family who have already contributed in other ways:
Susie & Jackie for checking in and finding tribal resources for our parents.
Sergio for personally taking time out of his day to get funds to their bank and to us.
Tara for allowing us to stay at her home in the Seattle area.
For family who have been praying….we appreciate you all so much!
Sincerely,
Sarah, Iris, Santee, Farren
