PennyLane is in the ICU at the vet again… Her white blood cell count is high, her kidney count is high, she’s not eating, and she’s wobbly when standing or trying to walk. I was talking to the vet, and since this happened before about 6 months ago, he was going to test her for Addison’s disease. Addison’s disease, also known as Primary Adrenal Insufficiency, is a rare condition that happens when the body does not make enough of some hormones. Symptoms can happen slowly over months, or physical stress can make symptoms get worse fast. If this happens, it is an emergency known as an adrenal crisis, and without treatment, adrenal crisis can lead to death. Her symptoms started just after that thunderstorm the other night and progressively got worse over a couple of days, so she has been in the hospital since Saturday morning. They had to stabilize her before they could run the test to confirm Addison’s disease or not, which they are doing along with a couple of other tests today. Right now, her bill (which includes all of the tests) is estimated at $1918.32. Anything you can give will help, or you can call the William-Sebby Veterinary Clinic at (512) [phone redacted] and tell them you want to pay a little on PennyLane’s bill #1409956.
