My name is Troy Mayo and I want to share a little of my story. On April 16th, I was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pain. On April 18th, it was decided that I would be taken for a heart cath. They found I needed 3 more stents due to blockages. While doing the procedure, I flattened twice. They were able to bring me back after a combined 15 minutes unresponsive. Due to this, they had to do an emergency intubation. Due to the intubation, they caused my voice box to become paralyzed. This then caused me to have a tracheotomy and a peg tube placed to ease the breathing and swallowing. After being in the hospital for over a month, I was then taken to rehab for another 18 days. Now that I am home, there are many doctor visits that require long travel, many co-pays, not to mention throat surgery to open the area between the top of my trach and below my voice box. I am not able to work, my wife is currently the only one working, and it’s still not enough to cover these expenses. I am not sure when I will be able to work again. We are a very humble couple and have been blessed by the good Lord. We are just asking if it’s in your heart to help us get over this medical hump until I get back on my feet.
