My name is Madison. My son, Kadan, was diagnosed with quadriplegic spastic cerebral palsy when he was just a few months old. He is now almost 5 years old and has been in all the therapies since he was 6 weeks old. He was born premature at 29 weeks.
We have the chance to go get a surgery done called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy. It is a 4-hour spinal surgery to cut all the nerve endings causing tension so he can potentially walk. All his doctors and therapists think this will be his best shot at walking. He is so determined to walk! This boy doesn’t let his disability stop him from doing anything, but he wants nothing more than to run around with his siblings and cousins.
I am trying to raise money to take him out of state to get this done so I will have to pay for gas there and back, then a couple of nights in a hotel for the appointment with orthopedics, then go back for the day of surgery. The only thing I will have to pay for once he’s admitted for the 3 weeks is food for myself and him. He will have to stay in the neuroscience unit for 1 week after surgery and inpatient rehab for 2 weeks after that, so a total of 3 weeks.
Let’s get this boy walking!!
