Sometimes in life, it’s a good idea to reach out to others instead of drowning in your own stress. I am asking for funds from friends, families, or anyone willing to help an 80-year-old mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother with a life-saving device. My mother just turned 80 on May 12, 2025 and she is a true warrior. She fought and beat B Cell Lymphoma in 2019. We found out in August 2024 that her heart was only functioning at about a 20% ejection fraction. Unfortunately, due to the stress of the diagnosis and some personal things, the ultrasound she had done in April now lets us know that the heart has a 10% ejection fraction. She is not a candidate for a heart transplant and needs this LifeVest (defibrillator) to ensure her safety. My mother has raised two kids, helped with 3 grandkids, and is now helping with 2 great-grandchildren with another great-grandchild living in another state. I would absolutely love to keep my mom with us to see her great-grandkids graduate and longer if the Lord allows. My mother is stressing as Medicare will not cover the full cost. My mother has to come out of pocket with $675 per month to wear the vest. We are trying to get her into MUSC to have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator, but right now she is in the hospital fighting an infection on her leg. Until MRSA is cleared completely, they will not operate. The stress of knowing she needs the LifeVest and can’t afford it is taking a toll on her, which in turn is slowing her healing. I assured her that I would try to collect the money from other sources and not to worry. If there is anything that you can do to help her (our entire family) in this time of need, we would be forever grateful. Melisa
