Hi, my name is Mollie. At 24, I was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroendocrine cancer. This was followed by 10 years of digestive issues that went undiagnosed despite multiple types of testing by various specialist doctors. It wasn’t until nearly dying of Cushing’s disease that my care team discovered I had markers for a carcinoid. A PET scan then revealed that I had cancer in 13 organs across my abdomen and pelvis.
Since diagnosis, I’ve undergone an adrenalectomy, a debulking surgery to remove cancer from 12 organs, received then reversed an ileostomy, had 2 pulmonary embolisms and my lungs fill with fluid, been severely dehydrated requiring weekly infusions, and undergone monthly injections and 1 cycle of radiation. My monthly injection alone is $30,000, meaning I meet my deductible and out of pocket by the end of January each year. This does not include copays or the 8 prescriptions I must take daily.
As you can imagine, the financial burden is high and due to my diagnoses being stage 4 and neuroendocrine cancer of which there is no cure, this financial struggle is indefinite. On top of the physical and emotional toll that cancer, treatment, side effects, and the significant life changes that come with it bring, some help with medical bills would be a huge relief. If there is any amount you’re able to give, I would be immensely grateful.
