My husband, Scott Potter, has been physically disabled for more than three years, but his challenges grew even greater after he suffered two back-to-back heart attacks in March. Since then, Scott has lost the ability to walk and now faces multiple disabilities that make daily life much more difficult for both of us. Bathing has become especially challenging. Because Scott can no longer use the tub and shower combo in our apartment, I help him wash using a small tub, warm water, and washcloths. While we do our best, it’s not the same as being able to take a real shower, and it’s hard for him to feel truly clean and comfortable.
I am Scott’s wife and full-time caregiver, and we rely on his VA benefits and SSDI to get by. Unfortunately, that means we simply can’t afford the portable wheelchair shower that would make a huge difference in his life. Having this equipment would allow Scott to shower safely and with dignity, improving his health and well-being. I’m reaching out for help because we need support to give Scott the care he deserves. Any contribution will go directly toward purchasing the portable wheelchair shower and making daily life a little easier for both of us.
