Hi, my name is Albert. I’m 20 years old, and I’m raising money to help pay for spinal surgery to treat my severe scoliosis.
I was first diagnosed around age 15, during Covid. Like many others, I was stuck at home doing schoolwork online and spending hours sitting at home. Over time, I noticed something wasn’t right with my posture and eventually learned I had scoliosis. Since then, I’ve been through years of physical therapy and worn multiple back braces, trying to slow the progression. But, five years later, my spine has curved to about 47 degrees. Most of the pressure is on the right side of my back, and it’s gotten much harder to do daily tasks without pain. I’ve also developed flat feet as a side effect of the scoliosis, which only adds to the discomfort.
Surgery is my best option at this point. It’s not a decision I take lightly; my parents are worried about the side effects. There are risks, and it’s expensive. But it also gives me a real chance at having a straighter spine and a better quality of life. Living in constant pain and worrying about my back getting worse isn’t sustainable anymore.
Unfortunately, my family can’t afford the cost. My mom is working two jobs to support me and my two younger brothers after our dad walked out on us. I’m a full-time college student majoring in finance, and I also work to help pay for my car and contribute to bills at home. We’re doing everything we can, but we’ve hit a wall financially.
That’s why I’m starting this fundraiser to ask for help from anyone willing to support me through this journey. Every donation, no matter the size, gets me one step closer to a life where I can move without pain and focus on building my future.
Thank you for reading my story and for considering supporting me.
