Support Lisa’s Fight Against Breast Cancer

Hi everyone,

Anyone who knows me also knows I do not easily reach out for help. But today, I am – because my lifelong friend, Lisa Buell, aka Lisa Letourneau for the Colfax friends, needs us.

Lisa has been like a sister to me. Her father, whom we recently lost to cancer, opened his home to me for longer than I can remember starting when I was very young. He had nothing and didn’t bat an eye at the thought of taking me in, and he played an enormous role in shaping the person I am today. It’s no surprise that Lisa and I are so much alike.

Lisa is a hard worker, always puts others before herself and would never dream of asking for help. But now, Lisa is facing an unimaginable challenge: she has been diagnosed with breast cancer and is in desperate need of support.

Just as Lisa relocated to Nevada for her husband’s job opportunity, she received the life-altering news about her diagnosis.

Currently, Lisa does not have health insurance, and her husband’s income is literally just above the threshold for Nevada’s health plan. She is still waiting for someone to reach out from the insurance marketplace, but it’s not looking good.

Even if she is approved at reduced costs for the health insurance, they will not be able to afford it without trading the new expense with either rent or food or something else.

To make matters worse, she is the sole provider for her sister, Shonna, who has a disability and needs ongoing care.

With no job, no health insurance, and a mounting sense of worry for how to pay rent, buy food, or care for their beloved pets, Lisa is feeling the weight of the world on her shoulders. Instead of concentrating on her recovery, she’s caught in a whirlwind of financial stress and uncertainty.

Lisa is fighting for her life and her husband is stretched thin. He cannot do this alone. He is doing everything he can to care for not only himself but also Lisa, who is unable to work at this time (but against my advice is still out there trying to find a job), her sister, and their beloved animals.

They are facing the heartbreaking reality of potentially losing everything just to afford the necessary treatment that could save Lisa’s life. No one should ever have to make such a devastating choice.

I am asking for your help to provide Lisa with the support she needs during this critical time. Your donations will help cover medical expenses, insurance premiums, alleviate financial burdens, and allow her to focus solely on her health and recovery.

Please consider supporting Lisa in her fight against cancer. No amount is too small, and every contribution will make a profound difference. Let’s come together as a community, the way her family did for me when I was young, to help provide her with a fighting chance.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
