Support Everardo’s Heart Recovery Journey

Hi to all of Everardo’s friends

Many of you may know he has been in the hospital on life support since Monday June 2nd. I had taken him to the emergency on Sunday. On Sunday he called me and said they had run test and found his heart was beating too fast. They had scheduled a procedure on Monday and did that Monday afternoon. They ended up doing another procedure on Monday night. On Tuesday they did more procedures and again on Wednesday. They had given him medication to keep him sedated because they had put a breathing tube in and patients need to be sedated for that. They also have him on a machine that pumps his blood in his body to give his heart a rest. They also have him on a dialysis machine to also give his kidneys a rest. They have said he may need a heart transplant but have not made that determination as of yet but it’s still a possibility. If they do a heart transplant they have told me that it will take a minimum of one year to recover. On Thursday they lowered the medication that kept him sedated so they could see how his reflexes were doing. They said they were good. Since Thursday they have kept him awake although they keep him still sedated and he will open his eyes when spoken to and shake his head yes or no when asked simple questions. He seems to know when I’m there and who I am so that’s a blessing. He also seems to recognize his friends that have visited. It’s still a process that he will have to endure and they haven’t mentioned anything about a day he would be able to come home. It was touch and go the first few days. After he is released he will most likely not be able to go back to his work for a while. I don’t know how long that would be. He will need help financially for a while. I help him but I still have my apartment in San Francisco so I’m limited to the money I can give him for his rent and bills. It would be greatly appreciated if his friends could help in his recovery with a donation to this “fundraiser”. All the money goes to help Everardo. I am his boyfriend Marc and I am doing everything I can to help him and will continue to help with everything I can. He has many friends he talks about and cares for and during this time I have found out just how many of you care for Everardo and it speaks to the kind of person he is that so many people care and love him.

Thanks again for everything

Marc

Here’s a polished and heartfelt version of your fundraiser message. I’ve kept your voice and message intact, just made it clearer, more structured, and emotionally resonant:

Hi to all of Everardo’s friends,

Many of you already know that Everardo has been in the hospital on life support since Monday, June 2nd. I took him to the emergency room on Sunday after he called me and said doctors had found his heart was beating dangerously fast. They scheduled a procedure for Monday afternoon, followed by another later that night. Since then, he has undergone multiple additional procedures on Tuesday and Wednesday.

To support his recovery, doctors placed him on a breathing tube, which requires sedation, and connected him to a heart-lung bypass machine to give his heart a much-needed rest. He is also on dialysis to support his kidneys. His medical team has mentioned the possibility of a heart transplant, though a final decision has not yet been made. If he does need a transplant, recovery could take a year or more.

On Thursday, they began easing his sedation to assess his reflexes—and thankfully, they were responsive. Since then, he’s been more awake. Though still sedated, he opens his eyes, recognizes visitors, and is able to respond to simple questions by nodding yes or no. He knows who I am, and he seems to recognize the friends who’ve come to visit. That has been such a blessing.

It’s still a long road ahead, and we don’t know yet when he’ll be able to come home. The first few days were touch and go, but he’s fighting—and he’s not alone.

Once Everardo is released, he most likely won’t be able to return to work for quite some time. While I’m doing everything I can to support him financially, I also have my own expenses and am limited in what I can provide. That’s why I’ve created this fundraiser—to ask for your help during this incredibly difficult time.

Any amount you can contribute will go directly toward Everardo’s medical and living expenses as he recovers. I’m his boyfriend, Marc, and I’ll continue to support him in every way I can. Seeing how many people love and care for Everardo has been deeply moving, and it speaks volumes about the kind of person he is.

Thank you all so much for your kindness, your prayers, your visits, and your love. It means the world to both of us.

With gratitude,

Marc

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
