Hi, I’m Juniper – a 26 year old autistic trans woman and musician.
I began medically transitioning 2 years ago, and am now preparing for the last big part of that – Genital Reconfiguration Surgery (or GRS). While not all trans people want or need bottom surgery, I am someone who really needs it. I have dealt with intense bottom dysphoria since I was a child, and it affects how I go about my life every single day. I am ready to turn the page on that chapter of my life, and I am trying to do so before it becomes unreasonably difficult to get the surgery in this country.
Healthcare is expensive. Transgender healthcare prohibitively so. Hormone blockers, hormones, medical supplies, dozens to hundreds of hours of hair removal that is required for surgeries, getting denied for coverage by insurance, surgery, post-op care, 1+ months of missed work – we have to pay for all of this and more. All of these expenses add up to approximately $20k for me to do this. While I am doing what I can to save, electrolysis and some recent unexpected expenses have left us in a worse spot than we were hoping to be in.
So, I am coming to all of you for help as well. Anything you can donate will help me get closer to being fully myself, free of dysphoria and as I’m meant to be.
