On June 19th, I’ll be having a major surgery. The neurosurgeon will be doing a C3/4 decompression and a C5/6 foraminotomy to remove some calcified deposits that are digging into my spinal cord.
Some of you know that I’ve had severe pinched nerve pain shooting down my left arm and major numbness in my thumb and finger, which has become an issue with my work.
The recovery time for this surgery varies, but it’ll be a minimum of 6-12 weeks of limited mobility and not being allowed to work (no bending, lifting, stretching), all while wearing a neck brace 24/7 for 3 to 6 months. To answer a question: yes, I’ve applied for disability and I’m in the long, slow wait for a reconsideration determination.
Here’s the part where you come in: I’m asking for your help to pay my rent for the next few months so I don’t face an eviction while recovering.
It’s truly not the way I want to spend my summer, but this surgery needs to get done so I can get back to that thing called life.
I do realize times are getting very tough for all of us, and the current state of affairs in this country is in an upheaval and is making everyone cautious.
I do appreciate every one of you and anything you can do to help me focus on my recovery.
Thank you, Clay
