Hi, my name is Addie, and this past week has been disaster after disaster for me and my family. Last week, we found out that our roommates changed our move-out date without telling us, and we had to find a new place to live immediately. This also meant that we would have to pay rent on that apartment without being able to live in it for the remainder of the lease.
Once we found a new apartment we liked, we applied and got accepted, but by the time we did, that apartment was spoken for, so we found another. The day after we signed the new lease, my best friend lost his job that was supporting both of us for sleeping in on accident. With no income and two apartments’ rent to pay, we couldn’t handle anything else happening, so of course, during the move, my pet’s terrarium broke. It would cost $100 to fix, but we don’t even have that much money to spare.
Finally, this morning, my friend remembered a terrible mistake we had made. During the move, all of my insulin was put into a box with frozen items to keep it cold, but when we got to the new apartment, the entire box was put into the freezer, the life-saving medication forgotten in the chaos. Now my 6-month supply of it is completely ruined, and I have no way to pay rent, much less spend hundreds per bottle on the medication I need to live as a type 1 diabetic. I’m only 19, but I think this counts as a midlife crisis.
If by some miracle I can raise money, it will first go to buying insulin to keep myself alive, and anything I can get over what I need for the medication will go towards helping pay rent and giving my pet a place to live before I have to give him up. We are both searching for any job we can get, but the market is tough for young people like us, and we need help.
