Hello! I am raising money for my dear friend. She is a wonderful, bright soul that makes everyone laugh and always brings compassion and Connect 4. She has been dealt a really bad hand by the medical community. Unfortunately multiple doctors and specialists have misdiagnosed her, and have yet to commit to finding a cure, treatment, or even a correct diagnosis. On multiple occasions, they have actually made her condition worse, including (but not limited to) her being administered potassium without diluting it during her recovery. By no means of her own, she is suffering the results of an unfair medical system. Due to medical neglect (but doing the best they can), she went septic and had emergency surgery to remove her entire large intestine. She woke up in ICU with an ileostomy bag she was required to have for a year. Thank God she has just 18 inches of healthy colon left, so she was finally, after a year, able to have Take Down Surgery (bag removed and her intestines and colon reattached) so she could hopefully live a semi-normal life going forward. But the medical issues still persist.
She has several other medical conditions that no doctor has even yet to be able to diagnose. There’s a hole in her spine on the lower vertebrae (L3) that not only have doctors been unable to correctly diagnose after repeated Biopsys, Nuclear Medicine Bone Scan, MRI’s, CAT Scans, blood work misdiagnosed with TB, 13 antibiotics and C-Diff, irregular white blood cells, and second round of Cervical Cancer. Meanwhile the laboratory messed up her second spinal biopsy, only making things worse and then were unable to proceed. She has a benign brain tumor that, for now, they think isn’t doing any harm, but with how incompetent the doctors have been so far, I don’t trust that. And then just a month ago, she randomly had a seizure and had to be hospitalized once again. And as a result of this seizure, she has had her Driver’s License revoked pending a full neurological exam. Still, doctors have no answers, and at times, almost seem not to care. So much for the Hippocratic Oath.
She’s been living off of her savings, but they are almost gone. She is unable to work, but has been told by doctors to simply re-enter the workforce, which is just bonkers. And getting medical insurance coverage is next to impossible with her “pre-existing conditions.”
Please, we are reaching out in desperation. Doctors out there, if you have any answers, we are happy to provide all records and documentation. Lawyers, let us know if you think we should still pursue legal actions for medical malpractice. And for those not in the medical or legal industry, we’re just asking for your help, so she can afford the treatment she needs and not lose her apartment in the process. Donate whatever you can.
