Hello. This is Nikki, Karen’s granddaughter. Where do I begin? As most of you know, Karen was med-flighted to Denver for a blocked bile duct. She went into septic shock and had to do emergency surgery to put in a biliary drain to release all of the infected bile. She was on life support but through the blood of Jesus, is now only on oxygen and antibiotics. She is still fighting this infection and has a very long road of recovery ahead. She is still in the hospital and will not be released until we can get a better grip on this abdominal infection. This is the second time in a couple of years we have almost lost her but Jesus has not called her home just yet. If you know Karen, you know she would give you the shirt off of her back without a second thought. At the age of 70, she still helps other elderly people do their shopping and keep their homes tidy if they are unable to do so. I believe it is her turn for some help. She is going to be having nurses, occupational therapists and physical therapists coming to her home daily for the foreseeable future. The issue is she lives on the second floor and because of the toll this has taken on her body, stairs are a nightmare. We have no downstairs bedrooms with a shower or tub so we cannot move her elsewhere. I know AJ, Zoe and I can get her up into her room where she has everything she needs including a bathroom and kitchenette but she still has those pesky stairs. We are asking for funds to pay for a low-end stairlift so she can still have some independence and we will not have to worry about her hurting herself any further. We would like to keep her around as long as possible ! We appreciate everyone of your prayers and any help you can give to give her the best life she can have right now. Thank you all so much!
