Hello family and friends, I am creating this fundraiser for my 15 year old little sister Nevaeh Castillo. Asking for help was the last thing my family and parents wanted to do, but we are left with no choice and things have been financially hard for all of us. If you’ve ever had a family member facing a serious health challenge, you know that “a couple of days” in the hospital can quickly turn into an open-ended ordeal. That’s exactly what’s happening to Nevaeh and our loving family right now.
Nevaeh was just 12 years old when she was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastic Paraplegia (HSP), a progressive neurological disorder that’s steadily limiting the use of her legs. It’s a life-altering diagnosis that no child or family should ever have to face, and it’s turned our world upside down.
To get my little sister the specialized care she desperately needs, my parents have had to essentially relocate. They’re living away from home, enduring a grueling 10-hour roundtrip commute for essential therapy sessions and critical specialist doctor visits. These aren’t quick trips; they often require costly overnight stays far from their familiar surroundings. And as anyone with a chronic illness knows, there are vital medications insurance simply won’t cover, along with essential equipment like braces, walkers, and other specialized adaptive gear that are crucial for Nevaeh’s mobility, comfort, and independence.
This isn’t just about medical bills; it’s about the overwhelming emotional, physical, and financial toll a medical crisis of this magnitude places on a family. Our parents packed for just a couple of days, and now they’re facing an indefinite stay, with no set date to return home. Their greatest wish is to give Nevaeh the best possible chance at a comfortable, fulfilling life, but they can’t do it alone.
Here’s how your generous donation will directly help my little sister and our family:
* Travel Expenses: Covering the significant costs of fuel and vehicle maintenance for frequent 10-hour round trips.
* Accommodation: Assisting with ongoing overnight stays near treatment centers.
* Uncovered Medical Costs: Helping with essential medications, therapies, and treatments not covered by insurance.
* Specialized Equipment: Contributing towards the purchase and maintenance of necessary braces, walkers, and other adaptive equipment.
* Family Support: Providing crucial relief to allow our parents to focus on Nevaeh’s care during this challenging time.
If you’ve walked a similar path, or if you simply understand the immense strain a medical crisis can place on a family, then please consider helping my family. Every dollar you contribute directly eases the burden on our family, allowing us to focus on what truly matters: Nevaeh’s well-being and her journey towards greater independence.
Please donate today if you can, and just as importantly, please share my little sister Nevaeh’s story with your friends, family, and social networks. Your support, in any form, especially in prayer, means the world to Nevaeh and our loving family. God Bless and Thank you for being a part of Nevaeh’s fight for a brighter future!
