I have created this fundraiser in order to help raise money for my beautiful 18 year old cousin. She was involved in a tragic incident 6/2/25. Jessica J. Taube was enjoying a bonfire with her boyfriend and friends when gasoline was thrown on the fire in front of her. She was immediately driven to the emergency room and transferred to DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital’s burn unit soon after. She has sustained severe 2nd and 3rd degree burns all over her face, hands, neck, and chest. She is going to lose her hair, and will need extensive surgical procedures in order to restore her skin and features, as well as a wig. She can not use her hands and one of her shoulders is not functioning. Her eyelashes and eyebrows have melted into her skin, requiring multiple restoration treatments. Her throat has also endured damage, and was placed on a ventilator while in an induced coma for the better part of this week. She will begin rigorous physical and emotional therapy as well, which in itself can become extremely expensive.
As of today, Jessica’s bandages are partially removed, and she has been able to start drinking and eating some foods. She is able to speak, and I know she is just anxious to come home and feel like herself again. This is going to be a long and painful road of recovery, and she needs any and all support she can get. We are all praying and banding together to help as much as possible, but the trauma of this event is going to be continuous.
Jessica was working on finishing high school and receiving her diploma. She loves doing her makeup, hair, and was diligent in her skincare routine. She has always been a strong-willed girl, which has continued into adulthood. She enjoys outdoor activities and will be coming home to her parents and two siblings as soon as they discharge her from the hospital.
Any and every donation will go to Jessica’s treatment costs. She is unable to have real flowers, but she is allowed to have fake ones as well as stuffed animals and blankets. We appreciate everyone and their ongoing support through this time. Thank you.
