Support Aliyah’s Journey: Adaptive Needs

I decided to start a fundraiser for Aliyah in hopes of raising what we need for the two remaining things on our list. Aliyah is growing and becoming taller. We just recently bought her a temporary safe bed for Christmas, then for her birthday in April, we got her a stroller wagon, but both of these are only temporary solutions. I’ve applied with insurance for the most expensive important need, her Cubby Bed, which costs 16k or more, and don’t want to push it. That’s her must-have need number one on her list. Recently, I have also applied with an organization to get her a special needs adaptive tricycle. This leaves two more things on her list she is going to need at this time: an adaptive stroller and a bath seat. I’m choosing a stroller over a wheelchair because they’re easier to tilt back for her to still nap and do diaper changes if needed. The stroller will help her tremendously for years when she needs to take breaks. She does walk now holding my hand, but after about 30 minutes, she is wiped out. Then the bath chair I’m currently using is her infant bath chair, similar to the style of the pink one in the picture we want to purchase from Rifton. One she safely lays back in while I bathe her. Most individuals quit using the infant bath tub sling once kids start sitting up, but Aliyah prefers to lay back during her bath and feels safe and secure keeping that routine and being properly washed/rinsed. We tried other seats from retail stores, and they cause her a tremendous amount of stress. Partly because she likes to stick to routine and anything new can be frightening for her, especially with her visual impairment. I think the Rifton Wave will be perfect for bathing and maybe even taking to the beach or pool from time to time.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
