Eileen’s Fight: Health Struggles and Hope

Hello,

My name is Eileen and I have been in nursing since 2001. The past few years, I first had an anterior and an inferior infarction at the same time. It took a while to get feeling better from that. I also learned at that time I suffered from Takotsubo, aka broken heart syndrome. Then in 2018 through 2020, I had renal cell carcinoma in my right kidney and it had to be completely removed. After a few weeks post-surgery, I went back to work feeling better than I had in years. But, of course, COVID had to hit. I got COVID in December 2021. From that moment on, my life has been a living hell. Every 2-3 months, I get pink eye in both eyes. It also caused me to develop cataracts in both eyes, so I had cataract surgeries. Also, every 2-3 months, I get epiglottitis. Not sure why, as my tonsils, mouth, gums, and throat will all be fine. But when it swells up, it always feels like it’s going down the back of my throat, causing difficulties swallowing and sometimes breathing. Now I have an enlarged liver and spleen. I am so beyond exhausted that sometimes I sleep for 20 to 30 hours straight, causing me to miss so much work that I am having difficulties paying my bills, buying my prescriptions, and food. I finally got help with insurance, which has been a Godsend. Just needing some help to keep the lights on and to be able to get all my prescriptions.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I am a 57-year-old woman, too young to retire. I have no family to lean on.

Tranding Fundraisers

I’ve created this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friends, Sarah and James, who are enduring every parent’s worst nightmare — the loss of their beloved son, Leo.

We’re heartbroken to share that our dear friend Alex passed away far too soon. His light, his laughter, his incredible spirit — they touched so many, and his absence is deeply felt.

Hi everyone — Angela here, writing on behalf of Matthew (for now). On December 6th, completely out of the blue, Matthew suffered a severe stroke.
