Support for Darrell Strickland’s Recovery

Darrell Strickland, a 40-year-old disabled veteran, is facing a critical health battle. After serving in Iraq and dedicating his life to fire and rescue, Darrell’s life took a challenging turn due to MOG antibody disease, which has severely impacted his mobility and vision. Despite these challenges, Darrell remains a loving father to his five children, who need their dad now more than ever.

Recently, Darrell contracted pneumocystis pneumonia, leading to a dire situation where he was placed on a ventilator and transferred to UAB in Birmingham, Alabama, for ECMO treatment—his last hope for survival. As his mother, I am desperate to be by his side during this critical time. However, living five hours away in Florida and being on a fixed income makes it difficult to cover the travel, lodging, meals, and gas expenses needed to stay with Darrell.

We lost Darrell’s father to cancer last year, and now, with Darrell’s life hanging in the balance, I am reaching out for support.
