I’m raising money to help my daughter, Alexis Hultgren, to come up with money for her next surgery for her leg. She has a rare bone cancer that will never go away. She just had reconstructive leg surgery a few months back to try to save her leg. There was a special surgery that they came up with to save it. The bone cancer is called Adamantinoma. She lives in Minnesota with her mother. She has two brothers, Dallas and Tristan Hultgren. She loves sports and actually has a scholarship in two different sports right now: volleyball and basketball. She also plays softball.
She had surgery back in January and another one in February on her tibia. There was a big tumor that was removed. They cut out a big chunk of her bone. The tumor was in a very hard spot to remove. She’s still at a high risk of growing more tumors. This past surgery was made special so she wouldn’t lose her leg. The tibia that they cut out was right under her knee joint. They put in a cadaver bone, 13 screws, and two metal plates. Then they cut down her shin, went into the back of her calf, cut and restructured her muscles, and put one on top of the metal plate to hold it better. They did a big skin graft from the side of her thigh and put the skin on top of that ligament. It was an 8-hour surgery.
This next surgery that she’s supposed to have is supposed to be the final surgery on her leg, and hopefully, everything takes. We are still short on money to have the surgery at the Mayo Clinic. State insurance only covers so much. I pray that somebody can find it in their heart to donate to help my daughter out. She’s 17, going on 18 here in a few months, graduating, and hopefully living her dream. She wants to be either a pre-education teacher or a doctor. I pray for my daughter every night, for she’s going to live with this the rest of her life. I have a bone disease myself, so I have a feeling this runs on my side of the family that I don’t know much history about. Thank you guys for anybody who does donate. God bless you, and I appreciate it.
